The Holy Doors
Novgorod
These imposing doors feature Saint Basil the Great and Saint John Chrysostom. The doors date to the last quarter of the fifteenth century and the upper parts, which depict the Annunciation (see detail), are from the sixteenth century.
The doors are from the Church of St. Nicholas, Gostinopolye Monastery near Novgorod.
