Vrubel, M. A. "Six-Winged Seraph (Azrael)". 1904

Notes: Six-Winged Seraph (Azrael). Vrubel based "The Six-Winged Seraph (Azrael)" (1904) on Pushkin's poem "The Prophet," in which Azrael places a burning coal in the prophet's heart so that his words will have the power to move his audience. The artist's strokes of color seem to possess a fire akin to that which inspired the prophet.
