Adlivankin, S. Ya. ""B" Tram". 1922

Notes: "B" Tram This charming work from 1922 is a youthful effort by Adlivankin, a member of NOZh (The New Society of Painters), which formed the same year. In that year as well, paintings by Adlivankin and five other NOZh artists (Gluskin, Niurenberg, Perutsky, Riazhsky and Popov) were featured in a Moscow exhibition. The catalogue of that exhibition included a declaration which stated that "we are pioneering an unprecedented revival of Russian painting" and that "we regard realism not as an impersonal and literal representation of life, but as its creative reappraisal, a profoundly personal attitude."
