Repin, I. E. "Cossacks". 1880 - 1891

Notes: Cossacks This incredibly engaging painting features a group of Zaporozhye Cossacks writing a mocking letter to the Turkish Sultan. The brilliant depiction of the figures' expressions and gestures suggests their raucous laughter to such a degree that one can almost "hear" the picture.
