Alexeev, A. A. "Studio of A. G. Venetsianov". 1827

Notes: Studio of the Artist A. G. Venetsianov in St. Petersburg, 1827 In this work, Alekseev depicts the studio of his master, Alexei Venetsianov (1780-1847), whose paintings can be seen in this ImageBase. Venetsianov emerged as one of the preeminent exponents of Russian realist painting in the second decade of the nineteenth century. Venetsianov's most successful works focus largely on peasant life and include "The Threshing Floor," "The Morning of a Landowner's Wife," and "Morning in the Country." This more formal depiction by Alekseev records the accouterments of his master's studio.
