Lesson 1, Part 1

1.2 NEW LETTERS AND SOUNDS: GROUP A

1. Open your Textbook to page 3 and read section 1.2.
2. Listen and repeat the names of the Russian letters until you have memorized them. Disk 1, Track 1, or online
   
3. Do online Exercise 0234. Letter dictation.
4. You may want to record the names of the letters and send the recording to the instructor to be checked for accuracy.
5. Open your Workbook to page 2 and practice writing the cursive forms of the letters in exercises A, Б, В.
   Follow the models in the Workbook. It is very important that you learn to write the cursive forms of the letters properly, as the difference between some letters is very minute and it's easy to confuse them. You may send your work to the instructor to be checked and graded.
6. Do the first part of Exercise АА on page 12 of the Workbook, or online Exercise 0356.
   
7. Do the second part of Exercise АА on page 12 of the Workbook, or online Exercise 0357.
   
8. Do Exercise ББ on page 12 of the Workbook, or online Exercise 0358.
   
9. Do Exercise ВВ on page 13 of the Textbook, or online Exercise 0359.
   
10. Do Exercise 2 on page 4 of the Textbook. Disk 1, Track 1, or online
    
    The words in this exercise are composed with the letters you have learned in this section. First, read the words to yourself out loud. You should be able to figure out their meaning, since they are all names of places, or cognates (words that sound similar in English).
11. Listen to the audio again and practice writing in cursive Russian every word that you hear. Check your work with the list of words in Exercise 2.
12. Read the Study Tip on page 5 of the Textbook.
13. Do online Exercise 0334. Dictation.
14. Do Exercise 3 on page 5 of the Textbook.
15. Do Exercise 4 on page 5 of the Textbook.
16. Do online Exercise 0333. Dictation.
17. Do online Exercise 0361. Dictation. You may record your responses and send the exercise to an instructor to be checked for accuracy.
